A tragic motorcycle accident in South Jordan, Utah, claimed the life of an 18-year-old rider on the evening of Wednesday, July 9, 2025. The fatal crash, involving two motorcycles and another vehicle, took place at the busy intersection of 11400 South and 1300 West (Temple Drive) and is currently under investigation.
Details of the Crash
According to officials, two motorcycles were traveling eastbound on 11400 South when a vehicle attempted to turn onto Temple Drive. One of the motorcycles collided with the turning vehicle. The motorcyclist who was struck sustained critical injuries and was transported to Intermountain Medical Center, where they later died. The identity of the rider has not yet been released.
The second motorcyclist laid their bike down in an attempt to avoid the crash. That rider is in stable condition and was seen walking at the scene. The driver of the vehicle involved remained on-site, was uninjured, and is fully cooperating with the investigation. Sources noted the driver is an employee of KSL.
Contributing Factors and Investigation
Preliminary findings suggest speed played a major role in the collision. Witnesses reported that the motorcycles were traveling well above the posted 45 mph speed limit. One of the riders has already been cited for “exhibition of speed.”
As of now, fault has not been officially determined. The case is being investigated by the South Valley Crash Team, a multi-agency unit made up of officers from the South Jordan, Riverton, and Herriman Police Departments.
